My top 3 issues

As a lifelong resident of our community, I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as your state representative. Spending most of my life in this area, I understand the values that make up our great community and fight for them each day.

Recently, I’ve been looking around our community and have seen some of the challenges we’re facing right here at home. Over and over again I see three things that are a real concern for the folks of our community: Jobs, fuel prices and a desire to see that government is more frugal with our tax dollars. Briefly, I’d like to touch on each of those issues for you.

Jobs: I understand that family, education and fair taxes are all important, but I also realize that it’s hard to focus on these matters when folks are concerned about whether they will have a job. I have worked with companies, such as Nestle, the ethanol plant and local call centers, to ensure that new jobs are being brought into our community. More than 900 new jobs have been created in the area, and that is just the beginning. Together we will continue fighting to see that good paying jobs find a home right here. I will not rest until every person who needs a job, finds a place in our community to move their families and careers forward.

Fuel Prices: Record breaking gas prices are putting a strain on our community. We need to ease the tensions because so many of us are struggling to find the money to fill up our tanks for our families basic needs: driving to work, buying groceries and other daily tasks. For that reason, I have been a strong advocate for alternative fuel sources. I will continue to work hard, where this issues is concerned, until we finally see reasonable prices at the pump.

Cut Wasteful Government Spending: If ever there was a time for government to tighten the reigns on spending, it is now. I have made finding a solution to wasteful government spending my top priority, from passing the first balanced budget in 10 years to placing spending caps on state government.

Those are just some of the issues that I want to tackle for you. With that being said, I believe that a good leader needs to know what’s most important to those he represents. Therefore, I want to know what concerns you have and want to see addressed. Please feel free to contact me to share your issues of concern, as well as any questions or comments you have. I assure you that I will continue working hard to fight for effective solutions at the State House.
